Witnessing the moment of creation
I once drove my car into the middle of a quiet mountain road in the early morning just before dawn. As I watched the light gradually brighten in the dark, I suddenly remembered that the moments of creation were being recreated in that order. I remembered that the first thing that was created was light. Seeing the contours of the mountains that had not been seen before because of the light that gradually brightened up, I felt as if I was witnessing the next moment of creation when the mountains and plains were created. As the light got brighter, color began to add to the achromatic mountain, and the trees, grass and flowers covering the mountain began to show its splendid colors little by little. This scene was reminiscent of the moment when grass and trees were formed in the time of creation. As the morning grew brighter, I began to see birds, and I began to hear their beautiful songs. This made me think that the moment when birds and animals were created was being recreated in front of me.
The contemplation that the pattern of creation is being reproduced every morning excites me, and I remembered the words of the Bible that were given to me the moment I first met Jesus, and my heart felt warm. This is the next verse, which is about the hand of God that is visible in all things. “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” It was a moment in which I was grateful to God because the Lord seemed to awaken my heart, which often forgets the grace of God, through the touch of God revealed in nature.

매일 목격되는 창조의 순간
동이 트기 직전의 이른 아침에 한적한 산길 가운데로 차를 몰고 간 적이 있습니다. 어슴푸레 하게 빛이 조금씩 밝아오는 것을 목격하며 갑자기 창조의 순간이 그 순서대로 재현되고 있다는 생각이 떠올랐습니다. 가장 먼저 창조된 것이 빛 이었음을 먼저 기억하였습니다. 조금씩 더 밝아오는 빛으로 인해 조금 전 까지 어둠에 가려져 보이지 않았던 산의 윤곽 들이 그 모습을 드러내는 것을 보니 그 다음으로 산과 평야가 만들어졌던 창조의 순간을 목격하는 듯한 느낌을 받았습니다. 빛이 더욱 밝아오니 무채색 이었던 산에 색깔이 더해지기 시작하였고 산을 뒤덮는 나무와 풀과 꽃들이 그 화려한 색을 조금씩 보여주기 시작하였습니다. 이 장면이 창조의 시기에 풀과 나무들이 만들어진 순간을 연상하게 해 주었습니다. 아침이 더 밝아지니 나는 새들이 보이기 시작하였고 새들의 아름다운 노랫소리도 귓가에 들리기 시작하였습니다. 이로 인해 마지막으로 새와 동물들이 창조 되었던 순간이 재현 되고 있다는 생각을 해보았습니다.
창조의 모형이 매일 아침마다 재현되고 있다는 묵상이 저를 들뜨게 하였고 제가 예수님을 처음 만났던 순간에 주어졌던 성경 말씀이 생각나 제 가슴이 뜨거워짐을 경험하였습니다. 바로 다음 말씀인데 모든 만물에 보여지는 하나님의 손길을 말씀하신 내용입니다. “창세로부터 그의 보이지 아니하는 것들 곧 그의 영원하신 능력과 신성이 그가 만드신 만물에 분명히 보여 알려졌나니 그러므로 그들이 핑계하지 못할지니라.” 하나님의 은혜를 잘 잊어버리는 저의 마음을 자연에 계시된 하나님의 손길을 통해 주님이 늘 일깨우시는 듯하여 하나님께 감사하였던 순간이었습니다.
